Rifrazioni is the winning project of the Ministry of Culture’s new call for proposals aimed at the accessibility of live performance in Italy and combines two artistic productions by dance professionals with disabilities in different roles on stage and behind the scenes, but not only. Workshops with the community open to people with disabilities, approachability and accessibility actions for audiences with physical sensory and cognitive disabilities, specific promotion and communication actions attentive to the different needs of the audiences to be involved, poetic audio description for an audience of blind people who tend to be excluded from dance audiences.

All these actions are part of the project presented by Oriente Occidente, as lead partner, together with eight realities from all over Italy: Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara of Trento, APS Fuori Luogo (Festival Fisiko!) of La Spezia, APS Arcigay Il Cassero / Gender Bender and Associazione Nexus of Bologna, IAC of Matera, the Apulian Menhir/Le Danzatrici en plein air and TeatroMenzatì/Tex the ExFadda theater, Versiliadanza of Florence. All partners are part of the Europe Beyond Access Italy network.

The two different artistic productions involved are I versi delle mani by Marta Bellu with Agnese Banti and Laura Lucioli and Lampyris Noctiluca by and with Aristide Rontini.

For both projects, the artists developed the poetic audio description of the performances in collaboration with blind artist Giuseppe Comuniello and playwright Camilla Guarino.

Lampyris Noctiluca is the title of the work signed by Aristide Rontini, who is its director, choreographer and performer, assuming within the production an all-around leadership. During the performance, Rontini stages his disability in dialogue with Pier Paolo Pasolini’s legacy by quoting the “fireflies” from Scritti corsari, in which the writer used the metaphor of the “disappearance of fireflies” for a strong political critique of the uniformity of the prevailing models. Rontini thus makes the stage presence resonate as a taking of space and voice of a minority that resists and asserts itself by conveying a clear and situated point of view.

Rifrazioni, as required in the ministerial announcement, has a touring calendar.
