We are thrilled to announce that Associazione Culturale Nexus is an official partner of TRANScenDANCE, an innovative European project centered on inclusion, gender identity, and the transformative power of dance.

Funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, TRANScenDANCE was created to address an urgent need: making cultural spaces and the performing arts truly accessible and safe for transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming individuals. For us at Nexus, this collaboration is a natural extension of our choreographic research, which has always viewed the body as a site of freedom, listening, and the blurring of boundaries.

Our mission within the project
Through TRANScenDANCE, we are committed to developing—alongside our international partners—artistic and pedagogical methodologies that promote LGBTIQ+ equality. Our work focuses on three fundamental pillars:

• Training and Knowledge Sharing: We actively participate in creating training paths for artists and cultural operators, providing them with practical tools to facilitate inclusive workshops.
• Movement Practices: We explore the body not as a fixed biological fact, but as a fluid and creative expression, offering spaces where every identity can feel represented and valued.
• Methodological Research: We contribute to the development of an educational toolkit and a series of podcasts that gather testimonies and best practices, ensuring a lasting impact on the European artistic landscape.

A European network of excellence
We are not alone on this journey. We collaborate daily with organizations that share our vision of art without barriers. Together with Nexus, the TRANScenDANCE consortium includes:

• Bazaart (Greece) – Project coordinator, focused on education through the arts.
• Cie ESSEVESSE (France) – A contemporary dance company with a strong vocation for identity research.
• Gamma Genesis (Serbia) – An organization dedicated to social empowerment and inclusion.
• LaJoven (Spain) – A leading theater and performing arts company focused on younger generations.

Towards a universal dance
Being a partner in TRANScenDANCE means reaffirming that dance is a universal language. We firmly believe that the beauty of a choreographic gesture lies in its ability to embrace diversity and transform it into a collective resource.
