Sull’attimo offers an unprecedented and challenging approach to performance and improvisation that form the dramaturgical basis for a exploration of time, born from short dialogues archived both in written form and through a docufilm. The material is created by choreographer Camilla Monga and multi-instrumentalist Emanuele Maniscalco. Piano and drums are played together to perform a single composition that is partly written and partly improvised drawing cues from jazz, ambient music, Brazilian folk music to 20th century cultured music, Bach to art pop.
Musical ideas are developed by the dancers’ actions in a constant interplay of balance and repetition to shape tight dialogue between sounds and gestures.
Each performer is grappling with the performance and at the same time with its continuous variation that is always personal and surprising.
Sull’attimo allows us to reflect on the compositional structure and its continuous reinvention thanks also to the effects that music produces on the emotional sphere.
Timeless time is the place of the memory of sounds and gestures, which creep in among the many musical and choreographic variations explored generating a change perceptible only on the moment.
